El Proceso de Informatización de la Sociedad Cubana, se ha definido como aquel en que se aplican las Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones (TIC), a las diferentes esferas y sectores de la sociedad para lograr, como resultado, una mayor efectividad y eficiencia con la optimización de recursos y el logro de mayor productividad y competitividad en dichas esferas y sectores.

El Ministerio de Salud Pública define la Informatización del Sector de la Salud como el PROCESO, cuyos procedimientos se enmarcan en el concepto de la Informatización de la Sociedad, en busca de optimizar los Servicios de Salud que se brindan a la población; incrementar la productividad y competencia en el desempeño de sus Profesionales, Técnicos y trabajadores en general; control en la administración de  sus recursos así como mejorar la efectividad y eficiencia en su gestión administrativa de salud.

Se presenta el Plan de desarrollo y uso de las TIC para el período 2017-2021 en el sector de la salud cubano
