Introduction: Vector control is an essential strategy to reduce or eradicate organisms carriers of diseases and spreading risks. Aedes mosquitoes are viral diseases vectors such as Dengue and Zika. In Cuba, Aedes aegypti is widely spread and produce epidemic dengue outbreaks. Departments of surveillance and vector control are in charge of executing technical processes for their confrontation. Medical universities as part of the health sector must not only be committed to training and improvement but also to their challenges and priorities. Teaching management is closely related to the organizational approach, towards the university and the rest of the sector.
Objectives: To identify problems affecting the quality of surveillance and anti-vector control processes and the areas grouping them, as well as to determine the problem area that encompasses the main problems.
Methods: a qualitative, exploratory study was carried out by a nominal group composed of professors who directed the Management Posts in polyclinics at Matanzas city, during the academic strategy against the Aedes mosquito, interviews were performed to selected key informants.
Results: problems affecting quality were identified, grouped into areas: technical and organizational elements, sectoral integration, intersectoriality, logistics assurance and person-centered attention, as well as identification of learning and improvement needs. An analysis was performed for each area. The problem area sectorial integration includes the main problems.
Conclusions: problems and problem areas are identified, the problem area sectorial integration is defined as encompassing the main problems.
