Introduction: This year 2018 marks the 110th anniversary of the birth of the, Julio Martínez Páez, who not only stood out for his great knowledge of Orthopedics and Traumatology, but also demonstrated in his performance the ethical attitudes and values that should distinguish a professional committed to his work and his people. Objective: To share with health professionals, especially those who work as managers, the task of an excellent driver of groups responsible for ensuring the best care of people, related to two of the main values of the human being: healthand lifetime. Development: At the time of the Batista dictatorship he joined the clandestine struggle first and Sierra Maestra later, where he worked as a physician, he assumed the Headquarters of the Military Health Services of the Rebel Army and fought without fear when necessary. After the triumph of the Revolution was the
first Minister of Health, a position he held for only six months, then taking over the management of the Orthopedic Hospital and, from that moment and until his health allowed, he shared that role with the specialist doctor, teacher and researcher, without abandoning their political tasks, the enrichment of their already wide culture and the enjoyment of music and painting. Conclusions: It is an honorable duty to recognize his disinterested and extraordinary contribution in scientific and humanistic value of those who, being an outstanding protagonist in the revolutionary social process, led the development of a quality hospital management, also contributing to the formation of each and every one of orthopedic specialists and many other doctors, nurses and technicians.
