Doctor en Medicina, Especialista de II Grado en Organización y Administración de Salud, Master en Salud Pública, Doctor en Ciencias Médicas, Profesor e Investigador Titular y de Mérito.  Miembro de la Sociedad Cubana de Educadores de Ciencias de la Salud, de la Sociedad Latinoamericana de Medicina (ALAMES), de la Asociación Internacional de Políticas de Salud (IAHP) y Miembro de Honor de la Sociedad Cubana de Salud Pública y de la Sociedad Cubana de Historia de la Medicina.
