Introduction: Medical education is a subsystem of the National Health System, nevertheless, integration of teaching, care, research and management is a reality that can still be perfected and consolidated. Since its creation, the Methodological Teaching Department at “Julián Grimau” Polyclinic has faced challenges inherent to its condition as a new component within a complex and consolidated system where methodological strengths but administrative weaknesses and threats are also present.Objective: To design a transformation project aimed at an organizational change management that strengthens the management process and promotes strategic planning, in the Methodological Teaching Department of the “Julián Grimau” Polyclinic.
Methods: An observational, cross-sectional, descriptive study was conducted. Data analysis was carried out through the application of qualitative research and theoretical and empirical procedures were used. The ranking technique and the SWOT matrix were applied, which allowed the identification of problems in the development of the methodological teaching work and research at “Julián Grimau” polyclinic, in Arroyo Naranjo municipality during September to November 2018.
Results: Key result areas and scenario building were identified, as well as strategic objectives, strategies and measurement criteria.
Conclusions: The strategies proposed for organizational change management allow the strengthening of the management process and strategic planning of the Methodological Teaching and Research Department at “Julián Grimau” Polyclinic, which will allow the increase of professional performance based on scientific methods.
