Management ethics, one of the determinants of the quality of health services
Keywords:
ethics, quality, management, Health servicesAbstract
Introduction: It is based on the concept of quality, such as the ability to produce a service with a definite meaning: knowing how to do things well. And the best way to do things right is to do everything centered on people.
Objective: To characterize the ethical attitudes and values of health professionals to achieve the safety and satisfaction of the people they serve.
Development: In the case of health services, the actions should be aimed at contributing to a gradual elevation of the population's health status and of their levels of satisfaction with the services. For its part, patient safety is an essential component of the quality of care, and includes users of the system, health personnel, technologies and the environment. But to guarantee all this, it is essential to take into account the ethical values of health professionals.
Conclusions: If you want to achieve a real quality of care, which has a favorable impact on the state of health of the users, it is necessary to take into account the ethical values that should characterize the professionals of the sector: dignity, humanism, empathy, solidarity, responsibility, social and professional commitment, always remembering that people's satisfaction depends more on the elements of affective communication than on purely technical ones. Rightly, Dr. Ernesto Guevara de la Serna recalled that quality is a right of the users of the services and is a moral duty of all professionals, technicians, workers and managers.
