Inter-sectorial participation in Cuba a fortress for confronting COVID-19

Introduction: The coronavirus pandemic has placed many countries' health care systems in crisis and exhaustion. Cuba prepared for this through a plan with inter-sectorial participation. Objective: To present the fundamental aspects that characterize inter-sectorial participation as a factor that strengthens the confrontation with COVID-19.
Development: In January 2020, the Government, together with the Ministry of Public Health, prepared a plan to prepare for and confront the disease, with the participation of all the socio-economic sectors involved. When the first imported cases appeared in March, decisions and action plans were implemented in each economic sector, which included the activation of the Defense Councils that would guarantee the coordination and control of missions and actions in each entity and community to reinforce health promotion (information, education and communication), social distancing measures and border control, the modification of risk factors, as well as the protection of the most vulnerable populations.
Conclusions: The inter-sectorial participation achieved was manifested by the actions taken by the agencies and their materialization and integration into the community. It can be seen that inter sectorial action in health is a premise and permanent action in Cuba, which requires effective leadership that depends on true communication, which is governed by principles whose characteristics strengthen integrated actions and, in the case of public health, are synthesized in considering it a human right for all.
