Integration of the substantive functions of the university in the formation of physicians' values

Abstract

Introduction: Currently, the training of future physicians should not only focus on the mastery of professional skills but also on the comprehensive development of human, ethical, and social values. These are fundamental to the practice of the profession, enabling them to be not only competent in their technical area but also responsible and ethical in their dealings with people.

Objective: To assess the importance of integrating the substantive functions of the university into the formation of physician values and its influence on the quality of care. Methods: Theoretical methods were used, including documentary analysis, systematization, and logical history, which facilitated the contrast and positioning of ideas linked to aspects related to the object of study.

Development: In the development of values in the medical profession, the integration of the substantive functions of higher education is essential to guarantee quality and humane care for the population. We assess how these functions articulate with the teaching of values in the medical profession and how they influence patient satisfaction through content analysis of reviewed documents, highlighting the author's position in assessing these aspects.

Conclusion: The integration of the substantive functions of higher education contributes to the comprehensive and effective training of medical professionals, which highlights human values in their work and has a very favorable influence on public satisfaction with the services received.
