Introduction: During June to July 2017, at the request of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba, the National School of Public Health made an accompaniment to the Municipality of Boyeros in the intensive campaign against Aedes and the prevention of arbovirosis, incorporating trios of professors in the different health areas, who worked on the advice and supervision of the different processes. The ministerial inspection found poor quality of the epidemiological surveys, the insufficient quality of the epidemiological surveys that were found, which encouraged us to carry out this study.
Objective: Describe the actions taken to contribute to the improvement of the filling of epidemiological surveys in the "Salvador Allende" Polyclinic during June and July 2017.
Methods: A descriptive study was carried out, using the research-action methodology, with the realization of a diagnosis, modification of the existing model and delivery of reports to the different areas.
Results: Errors were observed in 69 epidemiological surveys (59%) of the total related to the lack of description of the data (53%) and incomplete data in 48%. The most affected items were the date of completion of focal, adulticide and peripheral treatments with 59%. A report was made to the management of the area, contacts were established with doctors and nurses in the management position of the polyclinic and offices, the existing epidemiological survey model for dengue and zica cases was adapted, contacts were established with the office messenger and staff of the Hygiene and Epidemiology area and follow-up was indicated for the review of the actions.
Conclusions: The actions contributed to decision-making for a better follow-up in the filling of epidemiological surveys, which contributed to an improvement in the surveillance of cases.
